44.Plans of the Old & New City of Peking Metropolis of China. Description: An uncommon and appealing 1744 map of Beijing or Peking, China. The map features two maps of Beijing both drawn to scale. The larger upper map illustrates 'New Peking' c. 1700 while the smaller map shows ancient Beijing. Both maps feature numerous numbered and/or lettered sites corresponding to a key in the lower quadrants. The key identifies such sites as the 'Portal of Heaven', the 'Hall Thrice Exalted', the 'House which received Heaven', and many others. The map was mostly likely engraved by Bowen to illustrate John Campbell's 1744 posthumous publication of John Harris' collection of Collection of Voyages and Travels .

A small but very early and interesting engraving by J. Basire for 'The Universal Traveller', by Thomas Salmon.
A pleasing and uncommon mid-18th century birds-eye view (likely based upon Montanus) of what was once clearly an important Chinese temple site near Nanking.
Endless activity is seen on the temple grounds and an engraved note at right states "In this temple are at least 10,000 Images, all made of plaster, some 6 feet high...".

47. Antique Print Sheet Music Meliers Airs Chinois This item was bought from an antique dealer from a large auction lot, it may be a copper plate, photo etching, steel engraving, woodcut or print. Dates c1790-c1900, date if known in title. The size of the scaleboard you see is 12 x 16 inches (300 x 415) Size of each item varies so check against scale shown which is 0.5 inch apart (1.5 cm) to find the size of the plate. All are genuine antiques and not modern copies. Please check your image carefully. You may not get image shown as we have duplicates of the images but they are all genuine antiques.

The Grand Throne Imperial is beautifully rendered complete with tiny court functionaries scurrying about. Prepared by N. Bellin for issue in the 1757 edition of A. Provost’s L`Histoire Generale des Voyages . Printed area measures 7.5 inches high by 10.5 inches wide.
